Match report for the game on 04/08/2021 vs Helsfyr.

A friendly game between Aliens and Helsfyr at Ekeberg 1 on a warm Tuesday for a T20. We did a bit of jogging and a bit of the usual drills. This match will be remembered for two things: Benan’s first match as a skipper and Erik Powell’s debut, probably the youngest to have a debuted at 17.

Helsfyr won the toss and elected to bat first.

Erik playing his first game for Aliens bowled with good pace and hostility, he was rewarded with 3 wickets. Sudesh shared the new ball with Erik and bowled economically.

Paul was next up and after a quick over and a wicket, he seemed to have tweaked a muscle and Peter Ward in his first season for Aliens just like Paul bowled tidily.

Benan was ringing in the changes like a veteran, Arif and Achal next, Achal after a 3 year hiatus with shoulder injury. Arif as has been all season picked up 3 wickets to keep the run rate in check. Helsfyr finished with 98/9 in their 20 overs. This was indeed a gettable target.

Benan wanted to open the batting (didn’t bowl) and he opened with Ankush, they started of slow and steady but Ankush soon departed and Branson followed in quick time. Dennis and Benan steadied the innings a bit, Benan was to follow next when he was caught and bowled. Dennis holed out going for a maximum at long off, Peter and Erik soon followed without troubling the scorers much. This brought Achal and Sudesh to the crease, they did give hope to the aliens waiting in the broken hut, Achal played one too many reverse sweeps and got out :). Sudesh and Arif were soon too follow, with that hope of an aliens win. Paul was not out and we lost by 15 runs.

Good game for a lot of Aliens playing their first season and in new roles.

Man of Aliens in the match - Erik Powell.
