The T20 friendly match between Aliens and Fjord cricket clubs took place on the 7th of September 2021 at Rommen cricket ground. Aliens cricket club won the toss and elected to bat first. Ankush and Dennis opened the innings for Aliens. The first boundary came from Ankush’s blade. Yet again Dennis was adjudged LBW out by a teammate who was umpiring.
Ankush scored 5 quick boundaries before he was run out by Kulkarni. After losing three wickets, Damon Crawford and Branson Belle ensured to build a partnership and steady the ship for Aliens. Branson struck a couple of boundaries but found the fielder when intended to accelerate.
Damon ensured that Aliens posts a good total on the scoreboard, he scored 59 runs at a strike rate 168, this included six fours and a six. The 16th over was very eventful, “as some horse riders arrived behind the sight screen demanding for both teams to leave, so they could have a game of polo”. Anyhow, while the horse riders were passing the sight screen Damon was on the strike (immensely distracted), the bowler seized the opportunity and bowled a wicket-to-wicket delivery which claimed the wicket of the match’s top scorer.
Erik and Marcus were the next batsmen who contributed 14 and 12 runs apiece, Erik’s innings included a nice shot for four before being runout.
David Malony’s contribution of 25 runs of only 7 balls at a strike rate of 357 ensured a superb finish for Aliens. This included a six of the first ball, a four and two huge sixes, in the last over.
Mohit opened the bowling attack and provided Aliens with an early breakthrough in his second over. The next wicket was claimed by Benan who bowled a change of pace and the batsman skied it. The next batsman was trapped when he edged the ball towards the fielder at 45° where Benan took a nice catch of Arif’s bowling.
In the last four overs Erik and David ensured to keep the batsmen under pressure. Aliens defended the posted total and won the match by 17 runs.
