After a great start to the SuperLeague season Aliens were riding high as we arrived to Rud idrettspark to take on Bærum in our 5th SuperLeague game for the season.

Unfortunately however the outfield was also riding quite high…. Which it seems really doesn’t suit us so well.

Bærum won the toss and elected to bowl. We got off to an ok start with Sudesh and Sushil playing some aggressive strokes in the power play. Including a great 6 over square leg from Sushil.

However, we couldn’t really keep up any momentum after that with a regular stream of wickets holding us back. Some of them coming via some unfortunate LBW decisions (Dennis), also Avra and Ankush getting going before getting runout after mixups really held back any momentum everytime we looked to get things moving.

Our top scorer Damon 29* (58) couldn’t get going either. Our team struggling to score is evidenced by us only hitting 3 boundaries in the 33 overs. A slow outfield meaning that you needed to go the arial route. Our struggles with that really holds us back on grounds like Bærum.

We were only just able to cross the 100 mark mark, setting Bærum 102 for the win.

Bærum went hard from the outset hoping to get a quick win and boost their percentage. Mostly it paid off with several boundaries coming in the power play. We didn’t field or bowl too badly bud we just couldn’t create enough chances to slow them down and put them under pressure. Bærum managed to 12 boundaries to our 3 to underline the difference in their approach. Damon took 2 and Dennis 1 wicket but we never really had a sniff and Bærum ran out clear winners by 7 wickets.

We will dust off and go again.
