Div 2 Round 8: Aliens Vs Haugenstua
When: 02 July
Where: Drammen
Aliens Cricket Club 116/0 (21.1 ov)
Haugenstua Cricket Club
Match Abandoned
Another Unfortunate Washout
A gloomy morning greeted the players as they made the long treck out to Drammen. The forecast was showing patchy rainclouds looming with a downpour scheduled to commence shortly after the game was due to begin, but in Norway, you can never tell.
Fortunately, the umpires were feeling lucky and decided to begin the match and see what happens. A fairly decent move considering the aliens invested a good deal of time untangling the two enormous fence ropes (both a good warm up and team building exercise). Despite a lucky break with the clouds appearing to encircle the ground for the first hour or so, the rain came eventually causing a quick break at 17.5 overs and then ending the game after 21.1 overs and 77 minutes of play.
To quickly recap the events, Haugenstua won the toss and surprisingly elected to field, leaving Simon and David to don the pads and make their way out to the center. Both players batted well, steaedily scoring 116 runs (of which only 3 boundaries were scored), and finished the innings undefeated with David Kulwhilm racking up his first Half Century of the season.
