With a slight drizzle just before the game, Aliens showed up to the game with the eagerness of a cat greeting his owner.

Faces became longer when Dennis lost the toss and aliens were asked to bowl first. With a 2 min warm up that involved getting their hands out of the pocket for some, Damon and Sudesh opened the bowling. Damon got one of the openers early in the 2nd over with Simon taking a clinical catch behind the stumps. To finish the over, Damon cleaned up the new comer for a duck with a fiery straight one. Sudesh on the other end was fighting his inner demons to finish a 6 ball over.

Holmlia´s opener Ali took all chances that the bowlers gave him with gracious smile. Dennis and David tried their part to keep him down. Arif sent the other fellow for a sharp catch from a Dave´s dirt ball. Dave expected it to land far from the cricket ground as he released, however the batsman found Arif who was waiting to pounce on it like a man who just saw a single lady with a martini in the bar. The next man in quickly found out that Arif is good at catching a cricket ball but not chasing one. However, Dennis saw the ploy and switched Sunil and Arif in their positions. He was soon walking back only to be run out by a sharp throw from Sunil and Simon doing the rest.

The opener and the new comer had a steady partnership while Marcus, Dennis and Dave tried to keep things under control for the aliens. Aliens were almost fielding with one man down - Martin Shine seemed to have done something to his knee or was not in a mood to run behind a cricket ball. Dennis turned around to Arif and asked him to lend a hand. Arif obliged by sending the opener finally back for a well made 61 and number four for a well made 47. Arif continued to take one more quick wicket along with Damon taking one. Holmlia was 189 for 8 by now. The last pair of batsmen added 50 odd runs quickly to finish their total to a challenging 244 out of the 30 overs.

Writing up aliens batting is almost always the easiest part of any match report. Its often short and small. So here it goes :

- Simon and David opened. Simon looked solid.

- David was back in the pavilion in a gify leaving everyone wondering if he needed a bat at all for this game.

- Dennis showed passion as always and quickly fired 45 only to be bowled trying to be ambitious

- Simon had enough and wanted to show how to get bowled properly

- Marcus went in and seemed he need CPR any min. Only question was who was gonna lend their mouth for the experiment.

- Sudesh went in and Sudesh came out

- David went in and David came out

- Sunil went in and Sunil came out. In my defence….. well if I had defended properly, I wouldn’t have scored my 3rd consecutive golden duck.

- Peter went in and Peter came out

- Martin went in with a knee that looked fine after he was done fielding and showed a 10 ball resistance before it was all over.

Aliens were all out for a meagre 105 with Holmia´s Hussain taking 6 scalps. (P.S. The above batting report wasn’t highlights)
