Match Abandoned
The sixth game of the 2017 cricket season was the reverse fixture against Grønland CC.
Having beaten them previously in the season, the Aliens were hoping for a repeat. Grønland skipper called it right at the toss and send us in to bat. The openers were on their game right from ball one, and by the time Damien was caught for 11, the Aliens were 41 up in 7 overs with Dennis looking real good.
But this wasn’t to be. Aliens were left reeling at 50 for the loss of 3 wickets after 10 overs. Shantha and Damon resurrected the innings for a bit, with the former eventually holing out with the score still under 100. Assad hit some lusty blows to get the score past 100 but it was the 65 run partenership between Damon and Mitchell that helped post a respectable total of 189 in 30 overs, with the former unbeaten on 63 off 55 balls with 6 fours and a maximum.
Aliens felt confident defending their total as they had the attack to feel so, with Benan in great form in the previous games. Grønland started of positively taking the score to 20 off 20 balls with no casualities but the rain gods had other plans and thus the game had to be abandoned. It was a shame that it had to end the way it ended as it was shaping up to be a cracker of a game. Special mention of Damon Crawford for his scintillating and exhuberantly outrageous innings.
