Game 12: Aliens vs Lindeberg
Oh what a fine day it was for cricket. The sun was shining, grass was freshly cut and history about to be made... Mitchell De Beurs playing his 200th game for the Aliens. Big round of applaus.
The aliens lost the toss and were sent in to bowl, not a bad outcome for us considering how things started. First bowl of the match was a ripping inswinger which struck the Hussain on the pads and sent the umpires finger to the sky. A few quiet overs later and damon struck again, this time with a cought behind. Absolute screamer. Lindeberg were 2 for 2 off 2 overs and were looking in real trouble. Not to worry though as the next pair started to build a partnership (with the help of 15w and a 23 run over by one rusty Alien). However, when the breakthrough finally came in the 20th over from Dan, the wickets started flowing like beer. Not that it mattered, the final wicket fell on the last ball of the innings an Lindberg departed the field with a respectable 191.
The Aliens likewise got off to a shaky start, with Shahabaz fallin on his third ball, but all was not lost... history was about to be made again. Simon made his way out to the pitch. Unfortunately no videos of the game are available but the following video gives a highly accurate depiction of the slaughter that ensued.
After the big Mitch made a memorable 5 runs off 12 balls in his big game, dave and pete followed close behind, leaving the Aliens in a precarous position. Fortunately the in form Presidente continued his fine streak and the two put on the remaining 144 runs in just under 17 overs to see the aliens home with 5 overs to spare and 5 wickets in hand.
All in all, it was brilliant to celebrate Mitches 200th game with a win. Simon made his first 100 and Damon added another 50 to his list for the season. Then we celebrated with cake.
