League Match 10: Aliens vs Valerenga Cricket Club
The date is 21/07/2019, aliens pitted against valerenga at stubberumyra on a Saturday for a 9 am start. Hinchy all set with his camping gear and flask of coffee, Dave turned up in his shorts and polo , some of us with a bolle of sorts. But ofcourse if you are wondering about the cricket gear, most of us left in the car boots and some like Harry couldn’t be bothered to carry it from home, however Navid still drove from Jessheim for the game hoping he will garner another bonus point for the team.
It was time for the toss and the team captains were in the middle with the umpires, after a quick discussion and handshakes we decided to share points as it was raining, conditions not fit to play and the obvious below 8 degrees rule ( so as to not cause injury, whatever that is ). We should’ve known this when Matt was in the playing 11.
Damon after twiddling with his phone for options on team activities if the game is called off (which I’m sure he must have already looked at the previous night), came up with a few but most nodded for MCD.
Some returned to gain brownie points with their significant ones, whilst others turned up at MCD to see that the ordering system wasn’t the usual, not all of us are digital natives you see we still play the game on the field and not on a 65 inch screen. Most of us managed to place orders to eat or drink except Harry who has strict views on the meat eating practice.I should say that the 2020 tour options discussions were started on this very day and venue, besides the (mis)adventures of Matt’s night outs.
In hindsight while I write this report after the season has ended, this washout cost us 2 points which would have led us to the top the table for 2019 season. But looking at the bright side we learnt something at MCD.
Bring on 2020 - onwards and upwards.
