League Match 13: Aliens vs Klemetsrud Cricket Club
Memory dont fail me now...
The game was at Rommen if i recall. Sunny weather i believe. Best game of the season if i have the right one in mind. Luckily i hae technology on my side. the game can be summarized in 5 points on a graph...
Point 1 - Aliens bowled first and Klemetsrud were off for a strong start. Almost 100 runs down by the time Dave took an LBW off a horrible full bunger. Luckily the overeager sob missed a flying pull shot on the balls down flight and hit him right around the knee. Umpire thought it was beyond reasonable doubt and we were off in uncertain fashion.
Point 2 - A half hour later, Harry dismissed the other opener and opened the flood gates. next ball another. but no hatrick :(
A few rund and a few wickets later we really hit a wagless tail.
Point 3 shows 5 wickets falling in 5 overs and knocked them all out before there 30 overs were up. Still a score of 216 can be tough to chase down.
Fortunately the hero opening pair of Simon and Marcus got the aliens off to a strong start. However at
Point 4, disaster stikes as marcus get caught to a soft cover drive and Simon falls the next over to a leading edge skyrocketing the ball.
All looked doomed, but fortunately the combo of Damien and Dennis, both of whom scored beautifully and made their half tonnes, kept the runs coming along nicely until we were over the line in the 24th over... Point 5.
Best part of the game was the umpire commenting on Damien after his first ball swing and miss... "Jeez damien is looking a bit rusty," and then Damien going on to smash 63 off 48.
A good chase to win a good game.
