Oslo Aliens produced a composed and complete team performance at Ekeberg 3 to beat Sentrum S.B. by eight runs in a closely fought T20. Winning the toss and choosing to bat, they set a target of 158, then held their nerve in a tense second innings to defend it with two balls to spare. It was the kind of win that had every player’s fingerprints on it.

First Innings — Aliens 157/6 (20 overs)

The innings was built almost entirely around Pratik Agnihotri. From the fourth ball of the very first over, when he drove the opening bowler to the boundary, it was clear he had come to the crease with a plan and the confidence to execute it. He never looked flustered, never tried to do too much at once — he picked his lengths early, hit the ball cleanly, and accumulated with the kind of ease that unsettles a bowling attack. His fifty came up with a six over long on off Tauhid Salar, and he barely slowed after that. Ten fours, three sixes, 86 runs off 56 balls. He was eventually bowled for 86, but the platform he built was the foundation the entire match was won on. Player of the Match, without question.

Matthew Forrester was at the other end throughout the best part of that partnership, and his 17 off 32 balls was precisely what the innings needed — calm, measured, and completely unselfish. He kept the strike rotating, absorbed the tighter overs, and gave Pratik the freedom to keep attacking. Dennis Peter came in and immediately showed his intent, hitting the first ball he faced for four and finishing with 12 off 9 before being dismissed. Harry Waterston departed for a duck, and Avratanu Biswas made a brisk 4 off 4 before being run out. Then David Kuhlwilm arrived and gave the innings its finishing push — 21 off 14 balls, full of clean hitting and sharp running, taking the total past 150 before he too was run out. Milton Mondal closed things out with 3 not out off the final ball. The Aliens posted 157 for 6 — competitive, and very much defendable.

Second Innings — Sentrum S.B. 149/10 (19.2 overs)

Sentrum’s openers began confidently and by the end of the powerplay had reached 48 for 0 without too many alarms. Dennis Peter opened the bowling and kept things tight from the start. Harry Waterston shared the new ball and had a difficult third over, but he settled quickly and grew stronger as the innings went on. Benan John Mathai made the first real breakthrough in the seventh over, bowling with control and varying his pace to take the first wicket — the opener caught for 26. Lendle Pascal Zacharias came on and took the second wicket, the incoming batter caught by Matthew Forrester for 9. Aryan Raheel came in and hit Marcus Andrew Lyon for a four and a six in the tenth over, but Marcus came back in his next spell and bowled him for 14 — a composed response after an expensive over, and an important one. At 101 for 2 after ten overs, with Sentrum’s most dangerous batter approaching his fifty, the game was genuinely in the balance.

The match turned in the fourteenth over. Lendle Pascal Zacharias came back into the attack with Sentrum needing 31 off 6 overs. Their batter, who had scored 56 off 40 balls and had been the engine of the chase all evening, went for one big shot too many and skied the ball high toward long on. Milton Mondal — calm, well-positioned, and unhurried — held the catch cleanly. Two balls later, Lendle struck again, the new batter out for a golden duck. Two wickets in three balls, and the game had completely changed.

Benan John Mathai came back and was ruthless — two more wickets in quick succession, barely giving the tail any room to breathe. Harry Waterston then delivered the over of the match in the seventeenth — a maiden, two wickets, no runs conceded — bowled under exactly the kind of pressure that tests a bowler’s composure. Sentrum had gone from 127 for 3 to 138 for 9 in the space of a few overs. With 20 runs still needed and one wicket remaining, Benan kept things tight in the eighteenth over, and the final blow arrived in the 19.2nd over — a run-out — as Sentrum were dismissed for 149.

Summary

Eight runs separated the two sides at the end, but for much of the second innings it felt considerably closer than that. Pratik Agnihotri’s 86 was the innings the match was built on. Benan John Mathai’s spell of 3 for 9 broke the chase open. Lendle Pascal Zacharias’s double strike in the fourteenth over was the turning point. Harry Waterston’s seventeenth-over maiden shut the door. Milton Mondal’s catch was the moment the match changed. Dennis Peter, Marcus Andrew Lyon, Matthew Forrester, David Kuhlwilm, Avratanu Biswas, Sagar Gaikwad — every single player contributed in their own way, and that is exactly what made this win special.
