Training Match # 7 vs Alna
The game against Alna was a familiar affair. Aliens have played Alna on a consistent basis last few years and have most often emerged dominant. This was no different.
On a very rare fiery summer day, Alien’s skipper Dennis won the toss and decided to have a bowl. Alna openers got off to a decent start but soon Damon struck, reducing Alna to 44/2. Peter got into the act and prized two consecutive wickets, the second of which was caught expertly by Benan in the covers. “Chacha” of Alna and probably of Norwegian cricket, blasted some out of the ground late in the innings to give Alna a score of 178 to defend.
But the second innings was a story scripted by the veteran Aliens openers, Markus Lyon and Mitchell de Beurs, the latter scoring his first half century for Aliens in 20 years of his career with Aliens!!! – high time he scored one no? But jokes aside, both Markus and Mitch looked in nice touch and played some gorgeous shots, especially the straight drive for six that Mitch hit off “chacha”. Both Markus and Mitch retired hurt after getting their respective 50’s, allowing others to have a hit.
Aliens won comfortably by 8 wickets with more than 5 overs to spare.
