Aliens start their 2020 campaign with a comfortable win With an experience of few practices matches in hand, Oslo Aliens were ready to take on Bjorndal IF in their official season opener on a typical Oslo summer evening at Ekeberg1. Bjorndal IF won the toss and elected to bat first. However, they lost their first wicket quickly on the very first ball of the second over bowled by Peter. Benan was the star performer with the ball for Aliens picking 4 quick wickets with an economy of less than 6 runs per over. The captain David K also chipped in with two wickets in an over. Sudesh also chipped in with a wicket. Overall, it was a complete bowling and fielding performance by Aliens. As a result, Bjorndal IF was bowled out for 122 in their quota of 20 overs.
Mitch and Marcus opened the inning for Aliens and scores quick 24 runs in 3 overs. With some small partnerships and regular fall of wickets, Aliens were 64 for 4 at the end of 10 overs. Mitch was looking in good nick and was the top scorer with 33 runs, including 5 fours. David and Benan tried to build a decent partnership, before David got out, which brings Peter on the crease. With every ball passing, the Aliens dugout started to look nervous, with Aliens required 27 runs off 4 overs with three wickets in hand. Since then, every single run was cheered and appreciated by the team. However, Peter was in a different mood, hitting a smashing lofted cover drive (probably the shot of the day) for four followed by another one in the same over. The game got interrupted due to strong winds knocked off the bails, causing unnecessary delay. In the end, Benan and Peter batted sensibly and cruised the team to an easy win with 12 balls remaining in the match. Damon made sure that the social distancing norms were followed throughout the game and even during the victory celebration. Overall, the team was delighted to start their 2020 campaign with a comfortable victory.
